Different types of sanders
With any woodwork, it is a given that at some point in time, you will need a sander to give a smooth finish to the wood or provide that necessary detailing to a remodeled piece of wood which can either be in the form of beams or pillars and sheets of plywood.
Depending on the usage, different types of sanders can be used and are enlisted below:
1)Palm sanders- They are the most compact and lightweight tools which can be held in hand at a given point of time. They are majorly used for more delicate detailing and hence, on smaller DIYs that do not need heavy-duty tools.
2)Orbital sanders- These come in various sizes and the corded as well as cordless forms. It is a versatile tool that works in a circular orbit hence, resulting in the least amount of stress fractures on the wood. Further, it can be used for heavy-duty operations rather than the finer details.
3)Random Orbital Sanders- The bosch orbital sander work on the mechanism of moving back and forth as well as in an ellipse to achieve a far more superior result than that of orbital sanders. Further, if you are not cautious while working with an orbital sander, it can damage the wood being worked on, so it is preferable to buy the random orbital sander.
4)Disc Sander- It is a known fact that the sanders are used for giving a smooth finish to the wood. However, more often than not, there are other uses of a sander, as well as providing the necessary shape to a piece of wood. They provide not only form but also the definition of the wood being worked with, making it easier to use and access.
5)Belt Sanders- Just like the disc sander, it is particularly useful in providing shape to the wood. The significant advantage of this sander is the angular operational efficiency since it runs across the wood as a belt rather than a circular disc. Hence the sandpaper used is longer in length and can be maneuvered easily in comparison to its counterparts.
6)Drum sanders- They are by far the heaviest sanders and are thus used for heavy-duty operations. The sander is nothing but a drum-shaped roller covered with sandpaper. The height and width can be adjusted accordingly to achieve the result of your choice.
